Capt. Andrew Miller III of the Salvation Army is the Grand Marshal of the parade which begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Wisteria Plaza parking lot and will end up at City Hall where the 33nd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting event will follow at 7 p.m. on the Towne Green.
The parade will feature the 30-piece Salvation Army Band, lighted tractors pulling wagons, antique fire trucks, a holiday-lit tractor and trailer from Walmart, an entry from the Shiloh Horse Ranch, Snellville’s own Cop Cab and more.
Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus will be riding in the horse-drawn carriage, waiting to hear children’s wishes for Christmas.
“Join us, family and friends, as we celebrate the most wonderful time of the year ringing in the Christmas season in Snellville,” said Kelly McAloon, Snellville Tourism and Trade executive director. “The lighting of our 60-foot-tall Christmas tree will kick off the holiday season with sounds of Christmas music that will fill the air. There’s nothing like roasting marshmallows or having s’mores with a hot chocolate on a cool winter’s night with your family and friends.”
There will be entertainment all evening with performances by sign language and creative movement performance group Vision 2 Hear, Brian Alben, Micah Hudgins, Forever in Ministry, First Baptist Snellville Children’s Choir and the Metro Jazz Sax Quartet.
The Snellville Lions Club and the Shrimp Bucket will be on site along with a roasted corn vendor to provide food. Hot chocolate, hot coffee and hot cider will be available for sale too.
Kids activities include ornament decorating, cookie decorating, s’mores, roasted marshmallows, horse-drawn Carriage rides and caroling hay rides.
