The Gift Gallery…Snellville’s finest gifts

The Gift Gallery…Snellville’s finest gifts
By Beth Volpert

If you are from “around here”, that lovely gift bag and box bearing “The Gift Gallery” emblem is enough to excite any gift recipient, but what is inside is always more enticing than the box itself.

This building was Shell's Supermarket before becoming The Gift Gallery.

That special box is enough for anyone to stop and savor the moment before unwrapping the treasure when it is presented at a bridal shower, birthday party or other special occasion. It is downright wonderful.

Those special boxes are destined to become a memory when, after 27 years of business, The Gift Gallery will close its doors as the owners, Kim and Diane Rutherford, will begin to enjoy retirement and a forward thinking business plan. “We are going to move forward with an online drop shipment of merchandise from Uttermost,” says Diane. “From there, we will see where it takes us.”

With the closing of the actual storefront, Diane is free to spend more time with the design aspect of the business. Helping clients personalize and accessorize their homes is a passion and Diane is pleased to have the freedom to pursue that passion. “I will miss the face-to-face time with our customers,” says Diane. “Over the years, we have shared a lot of memories.”

For now, Diane and her staff will be marking down items 30% with some retired Vera Bradley discounted up to 50%. Kameleon Jewelry, Furniture Classics and wall décor from Uttermost will be featured in the retirement sale. “We deeply appreciate the support from our customers,” says Diane. “Without them, we would not have been in business for 27 years.”

Diane and Kim’s new venture can be found at www.lamp-designs.com. The website is beautifully designed and reflects the refined taste of an experienced designer.

Historically, The Gift Gallery building served Snellville as Shell’s Supermarket which opened in 1960. Shell’s moved to Highway 78 as Thriftown. Ace Hardware occupied the space until 1987 when The Gift Gallery opened.
