15th Annual MLK Celebration

The United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County, Inc. will host the 15th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration on Monday, January 19, 2015 in Lawrenceville, Georgia.  The theme, “Uniting in Faith and Perseverance: Celebrating 15 Years in Gwinnett” underscores how faith and perseverance enabled the United Ebony Society to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King through the vision of creating the first MLK Annual Parade in Gwinnett County.

The kick off will be held on Langley Drive in front of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center (GJAC) located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville, GA at 9:30am. The parade concludes at Moore Middle School which is located at 1221 Lawrenceville Highway (HWY 29) at the intersection of Johnson Road.

A free health and wellness fair will take place upon arrival to Moore Middle School. Attendees of the health and wellness fair will benefit from free preventative health screenings and educational opportunities. Free educational materials in the following areas will be provided such as heart disease,  stroke, blood pressure , breast cancer, domestic violence awareness, vision & dental screening, help for the homeless , sickle cell,  fire & safety , health & wellness, Affordable Health Care Act resources, etc. 

There will be an artwork display and entertainment by GCPS students. These activities will take place at Moore Middle School until 2:00pm. 

The event is free and open to the public.
