While competing against the state’s 24 best teams, Brookwood High team members won medals in 17 of the 23 events… never finishing out of the top eight in any event. According to the team’s sponsors, “It was the most dominant and balanced performance in school history,” said Dr. Jonathon Wetherington, director of science, Gwinnett County Public Schools. The school has now won the state’s biggest and most prestigious team science and engineering competition in seven of the last eight years. The Brookwood High team will now move on to represent Georgia at the National Science Olympiad at the University of Nebraska in May. The team is sponsored by teachers Joe Cox and Jorge Diaz.
