Gresham named Senior Center Volunteer of the Year

SNELLVILLE – One of the city’s most beloved volunteers was honored for her service Monday as she was named 2015 Senior Center Volunteer of the Year.

Mary Jane Gresham, a resident of Snellville for more than 45 years, has been volunteering and serving in the community through the Snellville Lions Club, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Camping Clubs and was very involved with volunteering for local schools, holding an office with the Parent Teacher Student Organization.

“Mary Jane exemplifies the true meaning of giving and volunteerism,” said Lisa Platt, director of Snellville Parks and Recreation which oversees the Senior Center. “Her dedication over the years is amazing and those of us privileged enough to work with her and around her are blessed. The Parks and Recreation Department along with the City of Snellville residents and visitors have benefited from her generosity.”

Gresham has volunteered at the senior center for years and has helped with many events and worked every year with Senior Center officials at Snellville Days.

“Thanks to everybody who made a dream come true for me,” Gresham said. “I loved working with the people of Snellville for nearly 50 years.”
