Both schools will hold the traditional “Meet Your Teacher” event on Thursday, August 4. Parents of students who will attend these two new schools should visit their school’s website for times and additional information about these events.
Baldwin Elementary Principal Dr. Brenda Johnson is excited about the new school year and all it holds. She says, “We are fully staffed and ahead of schedule to make sure our doors will be open and ready for students. We can’t wait to meet our students, sharing with them some of the great features of our new school. In addition to offering the Dual Language Immersion program, all of our students will benefit from a Spanish special. We also have access to technology that is going to support teaching and learning throughout the school. It’s going to be a great year at Baldwin! ”
Coleman Middle School has scheduled a Community Open House for Sunday, July 24, from 2 to 5 p.m. This event will allow students, parents, and community members an opportunity to come explore the new facility. Principal Dr. J.W. Mozley is looking forward to the event, saying, “The Coleman faculty and staff are thrilled to be able to open our doors to the community and the great work that has already begun. The community will be able to tour our building and see some of the things that set Coleman apart from other schools in the district.” As a STEAM-focused middle school, Coleman will integrate science, technology, engineering, the fine arts, mathematics, and humanities as a foundation for the learning experience. The new facility provides resources, like a dance studio, to support this focus.
