The homeless problem here is greater than you might think. Family Promise Gwinnett fields over 100 calls a week inquiring about its services. It serves 8 families at a time, so the need is definitely exceeding its capacity to help. We hope that you will join us to help these children and their families in crisis.
Family Promise Gwinnett is a network of over thirty congregations that organize their members as volunteers to feed and house children with their families in crisis at their facilities each evening. The children then go to school and the adults spend their days at the Chris Banks holds the reigns for some ‘Stiff Competition’
from Tom M Wages Funeral Service doing what they need to do to regain employment, housing, transportation, and their independence – all with the support and guidance of the Family Promise staff and network. Family Promise of Gwinnett County also operates an emergency women and children’s shelter called The Saltlight Center.
Family Promise Gwinnett is a hand up – not a hand out – program. It served 38 homeless families in 2013 with an 83% success rate. It combines the under-utilized facilities of local congregations, the willingness of volunteers within those congregations, and its network of local agencies to give families – who commit to do the work – a chance to regain and sustain a productive life for their children that they thought was no longer within their reach.
Family Promise Gwinnett is a 501(c)3 organization and relies solely on individual giving, corporate sponsorship and large fund-raising efforts.
