The 2018 keynote speaker will be Peter J. Skandalakis, Executive Director of the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council (PAC). Established in 1975, PAC provides a number of important services to the hundreds of elected and appointed prosecutors statewide.
PAC’s Traffic Safety Resource Program, funded by a grant from GOHS, provides Georgia’s law enforcement officers and prosecutors with up-to-date resource material and training to enable them to be successful in the ongoing effort to curtail impaired driving and traffic deaths and injuries. Each year the program trains hundreds of prosecutors and law enforcement officers across the state. DUI and vehicular homicide cases often present substantial challenges to prosecutors due to the technical complexity of the DUI statutes, the sophistication of the scientific issues involved, and the constantly evolving nuances in expert witness testimony. The goal of the Traffic Safety Resource Program is to partner with line prosecutors and law enforcement officers to meet these challenges and to better prepare them and their cases by providing specialized training, legal research, practical resource material, and “real-time” trial support throughout the state.
“We are so honored to have Peter address event attendees on April 10. MADD Georgia also looks forward to working together with PAC to enhance safety for all Georgians,” said MADD Georgia State Executive Director Debbie Day.
Sponsors of the 14th Annual Golden Shield Honors include the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety; Georgia Automobile Dealers Association; AAA, The Auto Club Group; and Brian “Buck” Rogers.
