Next Star Communications — A Top Sprint Retail Performer for sixteen years and counting

Since it was founded, Next Star Communications has been an award-winning Authorized Sprint Retail Partner. And just this past September, the family run-business achieved even higher status, being recognized as the Top Sprint Dealer for 2018. Last year, they received this award for 2017. Their Business Team also received recognition for ranking among the top 3 performing Sprint Business Teams in the nation.

Recognized on Sprint’s Elite scorecard program for sixteen out of the eighteen years they have been in business, Next Star has “aggressively grown” since it was founded in 2000, according to Sara Moeck who handles the company’s communications.

An authorized Sprint retail partner, the Next Star chain now includes 34 locations across Northeast Georgia and the Metro Atlanta area, including their newest offices in Marietta and Stone Mountain.

And as the business grows, the owners regularly renew their commitment to Sprint and to their individual family values. The company emphasizes that their first commitment is to the people they do business with — both their employees and their customers.

“We believe in developing our leaders and growing people. That’s big for Bobby,” Sara said, contemplating the high standard she and her husband have set for their company.

Sara attributes Next Star’s success to their dedication to leadership training. Every month, the company holds meetings to review goals and provide opportunities to develop employees.

Bobby Moeck, Next Star’s CEO and Founder, believes that by investing in people, he can make a difference with his business. His leadership philosophy is one of servant leadership and community engagement. He volunteers as a lay coach for Brookwood Highschool’s track team, and the company regularly gives back to the community by hosting fundraisers for local schools and non-profits.

They try to ensure that each of their 235 employees understand their unique company culture. “It’s all about servant leadership and giving back and creating that family type atmosphere that you can work in, ” Sara said.

For Bobby, growing the company has been both a personal and entrepreneurial ride. When he started out in the industry, most cell phones were bought in large retail stores like BestBuy. Bobby didn’t even own a cell phone in those days, but he saw an opportunity to make his mark in the emerging cell phone wireless industry.

And while Sara is the first to admit that surviving in the cell phone retail industry is not easy, she believes their strong values set them apart from the competition.

“There used to be hundreds [of Sprint retailers], and now it’s whittled down to just about thirty,” Sara said. “We’re one of the ones who have survived.”

While many Sprint retail partners have closed shop or sold to consolidate with other Sprint retail businesses, Next Star continues to set the bar for performance standards. They have won awards on both national and local levels, and they have scored as finalists for both The Gwinnett Chamber Small Business Award and for the Business Pinnacle Award for their professionalism and community engagement.

Although cell phones are no longer a new technology, Next Star aims to constantly provide the latest industry upgrades and affordable rates to their customers. Next Star seeks to help lower wireless costs while providing solutions for personal and business communications needs.
