The USA Super Senior competition is open to women 75 years and up, but, according to Nancy, “these women can compete with women half their age!” From the 40 National Finalists making the trip to Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas, the top five seniors (aged 60 to 75) and the top five super seniors were announced, followed by the individual category winners, and then the crowning of the new queens.
Candidates are scored on their interview, talent, poise/formal wear and their personal philosophy. Reportedly, Nancy road a mechanical bull at the Meet & Greet and then proceeded to awe the audience with an ASL interpretation of the song “To God be the Glory” in the talent competition. When her name was announced as the ultimate “queen bee” of the night (and the USA), she burst into tears. “It is just an honor to be in the company of such beautiful and talented women,” she said.
Nancy moved to Norcross in 1998, after living in Doraville for almost 43 years, so she could be close to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of her favorite memories living in Norcross was from performing in one of Lionheart Theatre’s plays, but she tells us she is still busy making new favorite memories. “Main Street is a thriving activity center almost any night of the week!”
After speaking with such an elegant role model, it is clear to us why she was chosen to be the title-holder among these competing seniors, but we’ll let you discover her grace and humble wisdom for yourselves… Nancy has just joined the team to work the polls on election day and invites everyone to come out and vote!
We are so proud here in the City of Norcross to claim as our citizen the 2018 Ms. Super Senior USA, Dr. Nancy W. Long. Congratulations on your special win, Nancy!
