Mr. Stephens said regarding our veterans, “We owe you gratitude that can never be repaid.” All veterans from World War II onward were recognized.

Colonel Van Horn remarked that he learned his sense of duty from his mother. The theme ofColonel Van Horn’s message was “Leading by Example,” highlighting duty, honor and courage. Van Horn closed his address by stating, “Let’s always be proud to be Americans.”
Philadelphia Winn Chapter Daughters serving refreshments to veterans and guestsSaying “Thank You” to military veterans can be achieved in many ways, sometimes with just words; the Philadelphia Winn Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution effectively say it with “action”. A special thanks was given to members of the Philadelphia Winn Chapter NSDAR for providing refreshments after the ceremony, as they have done for several years. Commemorative Events Chair Vanessa Wynn coordinated the refreshments. Girl Scout Troop 17920, Brookwood Elementary/Five Forks Middle Schools, passed out programs and ribbons to the guests. They also presented attendees with handmade Veterans Day cards. Thanks and acknowledgement were also given to the Honor Guards from the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services, Police and Sheriff’s Departments, the Lawrenceville Police Department, and the Patriot Guard for their participation in the ceremony.
