According to the U.S. Census Report, 27.2% of Georgia’s children live in poverty and Georgia ranks among the top ten states with the highest percentage of children living in poverty. Helping Mamas, Inc. founded by Jamie Lackey in 2014.
Recruit Travis Leslie and his co-recruits wanted to do a community project. Travis worked on Habitat projects in NY and did the research on how to get involved with Habitat in Gwinnett County.
As a relatively new business, opened March 2015, we are constantly looking out to the community to see how we can spread the word and contribute. We were honored that the City came to us and asked us to be a part of planning the first ever dog-centric event in Lawrenceville.
Data provided by the U.S. Census Bureau reveals interesting statistics about Gwinnett County. Not only is the county’s burgeoning population increasingly diverse (a fact that is often referenced when health care services and schools are mentioned), but there is another steadily but quietly growing population.
