Weekend Construction will close Jimmy Carter Boulevard Bridge Nov 14

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Oct. 16, 2014) – The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation will close the I-85 at Jimmy Carter Boulevard bridge for the diverging diamond interchange crossover. The project involves shifting traffic to the opposite side of the bridge, which will make left turns onto the interstate more efficient and improve the flow of traffic across the bridge. The closure will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, weather and conditions permitting.

Tens of thousands of Georgians live with life-long disabilities due to brain and spinal cord injury. As medical technology, safety and trauma care have improved more people survive traumatic injury, but many then face a lifetime of physical, behavioral and cognitive impairments requiring ongoing support services. On any given day in communities all across Georgia, survivors of brain and spinal cord injury and their caregivers gather together in support groups to share the struggles they face living with these lifelong impairments.

GCPS seeks input in review of AKS for mathematics, science, fine arts, health and PE, and career and technical education

(GCPS) invites parents, community members,and GCPS staff members to participate in the school district’s review of the curriculum. The public can participate via an online review of proposed AKS and an online survey, offering feedback on new AKS (Academic Knowledge and Skills) standards that have been developed to align the curriculum with the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS), as well as AKS for new courses. The review begins Oct. 15 and runs through Friday, October 31.
