Citizens Police Academy looking for applicants

Snellville– The city’s police department is now accepting applications for the 18th session of the Citizens Police Academy. Founded in the spring of 2003, the Academy has grown to a 12-week program which takes place twice a year. It is designed to educate the public about the operation of the police department and how the involvement of the community can help deter crime.

Fitch reaffirms Gwinnett’s AAA Rating
Notes stable operations and favorable debt position

Lawrenceville – Gwinnett County officials learned on August 1, 2014 that Fitch Ratings has reaffirmed the government’s AAA credit rating with a stable outlook. The rating affirmed Gwinnett County’s debt of $19.1 million in general obligation bonds, $806.3 million in water and sewer bonds and $89.9 millionin development authority bonds.

New Emergency Sirens Installed in Duluth  
Weather warning system upgraded

Duluth, GA  – Safety continues to be the City of Duluth’s first priority and that’s no exception to the weather warning system that has been in place since February of 2000.  The first of five new emergency weather sirens was installed at the Southeastern Railroad Museum in Duluth on Monday, July 28th, 2014
