New Lawrenceville changes name to Heart of Gwinnett

New Lawrenceville changes name to Heart of Gwinnett
By Staff Reports

“In January of this year, I took on the role as president of the New Lawrenceville networking group. A new board of directors was established with Jason Friedlander, Celeste Giordano and Sara Poe also serving.  One of the first items we wanted to handle was changing the name of the networking group.

The reason behind this was to broaden the reach of the group to include all of Gwinnett County and not just be known as a Lawrenceville networking group. With friends, acquaintances and business connections throughout the Gwinnett community, we felt it was time for a name change that reflects how our group has grown. We still see Lawrenceville as our base of operations and realize that Lawrenceville is considered the County Seat.  Based on the location and our continuing effort to raise money for various charities, changing the name to Heart of Gwinnett Business Networking seemed more than appropriate,” says DJ Walkiewicz.

“We continue to grow and establish new goals that will enable us to raise more money for charity in the future.  I was able to successfully pull together our first charity golf tournament, Par for the Cause this past September. In our first year, we were able to raise $10,000.  Combined with last year’s Spring Green Festival, our group was able to raise $20,000 to help with the purchase of a dedicated ambulance for the NICU at Gwinnett Medical Center. Not bad for a little networking group based in Lawrenceville.”

“I am so excited for D.J. as the new President and the rest of the Board of Directors as the baton of New Lawrenceville is handed off and becomes The Heart of Gwinnett.  A set of fresh new ideas and commitments will benefit this community with their fierce energy, excitement and love for Lawrenceville & Gwinnett County,” says Rodney Camren, Founder and former President of New Lawrenceville.

“Heart of Gwinnett is made up of like-minded business friends and colleagues with the ambition to make our community a great place to live, work and prosper. Our new tagline is “Where Business Happens”, but we will always hold true to our roots of “Bringing Community Together,” says DJ.
