Nothing but the Truth Awarded Grant from Rotary Club of Gwinnett County

Lawrenceville Non-Profit Organization Will Use Money to Expand ESL Classes

Lawrenceville — Nothing but the Truth, a Lawrenceville non-profit organization, has been awarded a $1,000 grant from Rotary Club of Gwinnett County. Kelly McGee accepted the grant from Rotary President Marlon Allen at the club’s May 10th meeting.

McGee, a volunteer at Nothing but the Truth, coordinates the organization’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program.

According to Scarlett Rigsby, executive director of Nothing but the Truth, the grant will be used to purchase materials for ESL classes, which are part of the non-profit’s ‘Welcoming the Nations’ program. ESL classes are taught every Tuesday at Truth’s Place, the organization’s community outreach center in Lawrenceville. Approximately 35 people attend classes each week.

“We’re honored to receive this grant from Rotary Club of Gwinnett County,” said Rigsby. “Like most non-profits, we operate on a tight budget, and this will go a long way toward helping us meet a growing demand for ESL classes. On behalf of the volunteers who work with our program and all the people who come through our doors seeking assistance, I thank Rotary for believing in our mission and supporting us with much-needed funding.”

Each year, Rotary Club of Gwinnett County awards grants to several local non-profit organizations. Grants must align with Rotary’s six areas of focus: conflict resolution; disease prevention and treatment; water and sanitation; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; and economic and community development.

“We are delighted to award one of this year’s grants to Nothing but the Truth,” said Paige Havens, chairperson for Rotary Club of Gwinnett’s Charitable Giving Committee. “In reviewing the organization’s application, we were impressed with how well its mission aligns with Rotary’s literacy initiatives. We also appreciate the fact that Nothing but the Truth, in its service to an increasingly international population in our area, helps improve relationships among people from all walks of life and, in doing so, makes our community stronger.”

Nothing but the Truth is a non-denominational faith-based non-profit organization that ministers to the Gwinnett County community through weekly Bible studies, children’s activities, ESL classes and other outreach events. The organization also sponsors a weekend back-pack program that provides food for elementary school students in need. For more information, visit www.nothingbutthetruth146.org.
