Over 100 Sorority Sisters to Spread Love on Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Sorority Members Make Continued Impact Rendering Service to All Mankind in Peachtree Corners and Beyond

It's never a day off for the sisters of Psi Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Service to All Mankind is what the members render in "Excellence" – even on the national Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

In fact, Peachtree Corners’ premier Greek letter organization primarily for college-educated African American women, calls the King Day holiday a “national IMPACT day”. The local organization known for its “Authentic Sisterhood and Unsurpassed Community Service” has over 100 members who plan to spend the day supporting the sorority’s international programmatic thrust by working to improve the quality of life and living for those plagued by the consequences of issues such as poverty, homelessness, disease, and lack of access to education and the arts.

Members of the chapter, promoting the importance of Authentic Sisterhood and Unsurpassed Community Service will spend the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service spreading love. Through the Sorority’s “Care for the Caregivers” initiative, Psi Omega Omega members will purchase, arrange and deliver care baskets for the caregivers of family members, friends, or clients who attend Adult Day of Dunwoody in Dunwoody, GA. On a daily basis, caregivers provide for the needs of and serve as advocates for their loved ones. The chapter will deliver thoughtful and “pretty” baskets packed with items that offer hope, love, and encouragement.

This year Psi Omega Omega’s national King Day Impact Day is even more special. The chapter’s Immediate Past President, Ora B. Douglass serves as the International Program Chairman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She leads over 300,000 women in the implementation of the sorority’s international programmatic thrust. Douglass has worked tirelessly in aiding the planning of the sorority’s national King Day Impact Day celebration. She will proudly represent the sorority – and Psi Omega Omega Chapter — at the national celebration in Nashville, Tennessee.
