Popular Cuban-American Restaurant Opens New Location in Peachtree Corners

PEACHTREE CORNER – A decade ago Peachtree Corners residents Luis and Yanin Fernandez opened Mojitos, a Cuban-American restaurant in downtown Norcross. The eatery was so successful, the couple decided it was time to expand and chose space in The Forum in Peachtree Corners for their second Mojitos.

The new restaurant opened in early June and already has become a popular spot to savor Cuban-inspired dishes and take in the sounds of local musicians every night.

The newest Mojitos has seating for 200 inside and an additional 30 on its outdoor patio. Along with an extensive menu, guests are treated to live music seven days a week. “We have a musician every evening, and on the weekends a big band plays Cuban and American tunes,” said Mojitos owner, Luis Fernandez.

The lunch menu features a variety of sandwiches such as the traditional Cuban sandwich with marinated roast pork slices, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard and a BBQ Sandwich with spicy pulled pork and diced sautéed onions served with Mojitos home-made guava barbecue sauce.

For dinner, there’s plenty on the menu including Vaca Frita, a tender pulled flank steak, Picadillo Platter and the Ropa Vieja, an American favorite of pulled tender “brisket-style” steak, served with white rice, black beans and plantain slices. The dinner menu also offers chicken, seafood and pork dishes. There is also a wide selection of appetizers, salads, soups and desserts including the Guava Cheesecake, a popular choice among diners.

Drinks on the menu include American sodas, sweet and unsweet tea, and Cuban sodas such as Jupina, Materva and Ironbeer. Coffee lovers may order Espresso, traditional Cuban coffee and Café con Leche. Also, on the drink menu; made-from-scratch Mojitos with fresh squeezed lime juice and fresh mint as well as other alcoholic beverages.

Mojitos even caught the attention of local TV show Good Day Atlanta, which featured the new restaurant in June. The restaurant had a soft opening on June 4, then celebrated in grand style with a ribbon-cutting event that featured mayors from Peachtree Corners and Norcross as well as other well-wishers from both cities. “It was a lot fun, the restaurant was packed,” said Fernandez.

“We are very pleased to welcome Mojitos to Peachtree Corners,” said Mayor Mike Mason who attended the ribbon cutting. “The Fernandez’s new restaurant has already become a popular dining location in our city. I am sure they will be very successful.”

The owners, who moved from Miami, Florida a dozen years ago, take care of every detail to ensure they are serving authentic Cuban cuisine including importing the bread for their sandwiches from Miami and preparing all their desserts in-house.

“We hit the ground running when we opened this new location,” said Fernandez. “We are extremely grateful for the welcome we’ve received from the community.”

The new Mojitos is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week and is located at 5161 Peachtree Parkway, Suite 630, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092; Telephone 770-686-3254; hours of operation: Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday-Saturday, 11 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
