Roger Green Celebrating 30 Years of Service

On February 24th, hundreds of guests, clients, friends, and family members attended Roger Green’s 30 Years of Service client appreciation celebration. The event was held at the Infinite Energy Forum, and special guests included Gary Galloway with Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services, Debbie Brilling with the Auditory-Verbal Center, and Dr. James Merritt with Cross Pointe Church and Touching Lives Ministry.

These are three charities near and dear to Roger’s heart that he devotes time, energy, and his earnings to support. Mr. Galloway and Ms. Brilling both spoke about the respective organizations they represented, while Dr. Merritt opened the event with a prayer and spoke about Cross Pointe Church and his Touching Lives Ministry. Entertainment was provided by comedian Henry Cho, followed by a fun celebratory evening of music, fun photos, and dancing.

The highlight of the evening came when Roger, the president and CEO of Green Financial Resources in Duluth, made a surprise presentation of a new car to one of his long-time staff members. Roger went on to say, “I have been helping people with their investment and financial planning for 30 years now, and have enjoyed great relationships with clients and staff members. For the past 19 of those years, I’ve been blessed by the devotion and servant heart of a sweet Christian lady whom I admire so very much – Betty Huff, our ‘office mom’. I jokingly said when she started working that if she stuck around for 20 years, I might buy her a Lexus. Betty is planning to retire this year, and I decided that this event was the perfect opportunity to reward her years of service and dedication by making that injest comment a reality. I wouldn’t be where I am without the love and support of so many, but this is one special lady very deserving of this surprise! Watching my GFR family grow and thrive has been a reward in and of itself.

When asked what he’s learned through his 30 years, Roger explained, “When you’ve been in the workforce for any period, you learn quite a bit along the way. One of the most valuable things I’ve learned, that I would like to pass down to my children, is the importance of having a giving heart. I strive to act on Matthew 10:8, ‘freely I have received so I must freely give.’ Endeavor-ing to be the best steward I can be has been a driving force in my life, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity bestowed upon me.

Roger went on to explain that when he was growing up, his parents were model examples of what a hard worker and a giving heart should look like and he always tried to follow their lead.

No matter how successful you are, you should always strive to keep learning, keep growing and work as hard as you can. Roger believes that if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life. He added, “I enjoy helping others manage their money and hope to continue for at least the next 30 years. Over the course of that time, I will be working closely with my sons who now work at my firm, Michael and Andrew Green, so that they can carry my legacy into the future.”

Roger advised that Michael and Andrew are currently working as Client Service Managers to “learn the ropes” as they train and study to become best advisers they can be. He is looking forward to seeing them grow and be profoundly impactful in the lives of others.

In closing, Roger added, “I want to say thank you to all my friends and family that have enriched and so blessed my life with love and to all my clients who have supported and trusted me through the years. In an industry that requires a great amount of confidence and faith on the part of the client I truly appreciate it as I embark on the next 30 years.”
