Splash Festival grant program keeps rolling!

Splash Festivals’ Grant Program keeps rolling as several worthy groups received funding for their important proposed projects. Splash Festivals established this program in 2015 to donate a significant portion of the profits from Norcross Art Splash for the purposes of art and education within the City of Norcross.

In 2015 those funds helped with the production of the newly completed mural in downtown Norcross and other exciting projects.

Cindy Flynn, co-owner of Splash Festivals, states, “It is important to help inspire students to learn more about the arts and realize the impact it can make in their lives and the community.” She adds, “We also want to continue to cultivate a growing arts scene in Norcross.”

Four deserving groups applied for the grants for 2016, and all received their requested funding.  “We are so happy that we can help these great Norcross organizations fulfill their goals,” explains Flynn.

Gardens4GrowingCommunity, Inc. will receive $650 for five “story poles” to be placed inside the circular garden bed at Summerour Middle School. The garden is part of the school’s outdoor Environmental Education Center. Each pole, surrounded by herbs and flowers, represents a different country and will be set in a beautiful circle of stones. Norcross High School Foundation for Excellence, Inc. will collect $1,168 for a Multiplex Display/Exhibit System for students to display their artwork. Wall space is limited at the High School, so the portable display panels will allow the AP/IB Portfolio students to showcase their paintings for their peers and the community. Norcross Discovery Garden Park was bestowed $2,000 to help purchase a circular arbor in their new, beautiful garden. The City of Norcross committed to fund the balance of the project if the grant was awarded. Kudzu Art Zone will gain their desired $2,000 to provide art supplies for the “Unlock the Arts” summer camp. This program serves the artistically, talented middle students from the under-served community in the Norcross area.
