Snellville Commerce Club awards two students with $1,000 scholarships

SNELLVILLE – The Snellville Commerce Club rewarded two area students with $1,000 scholarship checks Tuesday.

Each year, the Snellville Commerce Club, the business arm of Snellville Tourism and Trade, awards two $1,000 scholarships to a student active in either FBLA or the DECA program from Brookwood and South Gwinnett high schools. Students must demonstrate academic success and have been engaged in the community.

It is a beautiful combination when you find a person who is as talented as she is kind, which is exactly how Kendra Womack’s tennis coach, Claudia Trandafir describes her. Womack is a junior at Brookwood High School, and she has been playing tennis for almost ten years.

Snellville Native receives “Wings” after Naval flight school

A Brookwood High School graduate and Snellville, Georgia native recently completed naval flight school to receive his aviation warfare insignia, known as “wings” during a Winging Ceremony held at Naval Air Station (NAS) Whiting Field in Milton, Florida.

This year, we have been very fortunate to be able to spend time with a German exchange student at our high school. Jan Engel arrived from Germany in July, just in time for the beginning of marching band camp.
