Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™ – Brookwood High School’s Servant Students

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy™ is a national high school leadership program focused on impact through action. Brookwood High School (BHS) partnered with local Chick-fil-a store located at 1559 Scenic Hwy North in Snellville and their franchise operator, Tom Balsamides, to develop their leadership program to cultivate servant students at BHS dubbed ‘BOSS,’ Brookwood Organization of Servant Students.

The Hatfields and McCoys. Georgia-Florida.  Falcons-Saints.  Among some of the most famed rivalries our area has ever known, lies Parkview vs. Brookwood. Dating back to well before the date on the birth certificates held by the teenagers who will be taking the field on October 21, the “Battle of Five Forks” is a well-established staple of the rich tradition of Georgia football.

Hello High School!

You may have noticed that it has been a while since I have written an article. It took me a minute to figure out this high school thing. Since the beginning of this year, school has been a lot different.

Michael Kelly receives second Emmy Award nomination

Brookwood High School (BHS) grad (87) and Hall of Famer, Michael Kelly was out watering the garden at a friend’s beach house when he got the news that he had landed his second Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role on the Netflix series House of Cards (HOC).

Moving around — A Lot — to different states during the first part of our marriage was expected as Les built his career as a Hospital Administrator. When we moved back here (home) in 1995, we were ready for a hometown.

Finally, the day for which everyone has been preparing has arrived.  All the weights lifted, the gassers run, and sweat drenched t-shirts have led to this moment.  The stadium seats are filled with screaming fans as the beat from the drum section of the band pounds through the air.

Gwinnett’s different kinds of families

Who could be more photogenic then a group of Brookwood High School Football Dads in suit coats and shorts with ill-advised shoes?  It is a rhetorical question and the obvious answer is “Wow!”

Brookwood High media specialist honored as district’s best

Brookwood High School’s Jan Wilson is Gwinnett County Public Schools’ Library Media Specialist of the Year. Wilson, who has 19 years’ experience, has developed a successful program that is exemplary in the promotion of reading, information technology utilization, collaborative and innovative techniques, and community involvement.
