Downtown Lawrenceville Streets to Go from One-Way to Two-Way the Week of July 9

Perry and Clayton Streets to flow in both directions, Commuters urged to drive safely

LAWRENCEVILLE – The City of Lawrenceville’s much-anticipated two-way conversion of Perry Street and Clayton Street is set to begin the transition on July 9. As part of the city’s Livable Communities Initiative, the conversion will allow for improved mobility, better visibility and increased safety.

The tradition continues with the 30th Lighting of the Tree!

Lawrenceville – Continue the tradition this holiday season with Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR), as they host the 30th Annual Lighting of the Tree on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 23 at 5:30 p.m. with tree lighting ceremony and other festivities.

County seat coming full circle

The Cornett Hotel circa 1914 sits on the corner of Crogan and Perry Streets. It was also known as the Hotel Pharr and Button Gwinnett Hotel. Today, the corner has been remodeled, housing Dominick’s Italian restaurant.

Lawrenceville, Georgia, located approximately thirty miles east of the city of Atlanta, is the county seat of Gwinnett County. The municipality was named in honor of Captain James Lawrence, a naval officer during the War of 1812 who commanded the Chesapeake.

The City of Lawrenceville invites self-proclaimed foodies and ale enthusiasts to ‘Probst on Perry’ during its inaugural Oktoberfest event on Saturday, Oct 1, from 12-6pm. In partnership with local eateries – Local Republic and McCray’s Tavern– the City will bring the traditional German autumn festival to life on the Historic Downtown Square.
