Gwinnett Dermatology Celebrates 40 Years

In the late 1970s, 80s, and into the 90s, Gwinnett County went through incredible growth. Businesses of all kinds flooded into the area. There have been many who have not made it for various reasons, especially with the ebb and flow of economic factors. A few, however, have flourished through the decades since the initial boom. Gwinnett Dermatology is one of those long-standing pillars in the fabric of Gwinnett County. This year, they celebrate a significant 40th anniversary!

Historic Preservation: Saving Our Roots

In the midst of Gwinnett’s Bicentennial Celebration, I am very grateful for the work of the pioneers and all those leaders to follow who built the foundations for today’s Gwinnett County. I also feel very appreciative that some tangible evidence of what life was like here more than a century ago has been preserved.

Volunteers: Putting Time and Talents to Good Use

The adage “when you want to get something done, ask a busy person to do it” came to mind last month while I was attending a volunteer recognition program at the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. Our Department of Community Services honored 32 individuals and 48 groups who volunteered a total of 875,000 hours in the health, senior services, animal control, elections, and parks and recreation divisions. The other 11 County departments and many elected officials’ offices use volunteers, too.

State partners with Gwinnett to install smart signal infrastructure along county routes

Lawrenceville – The Board of Commissioners recently approved the installation of infrastructure that will allow County transportation engineers to communicate with traffic signals and cameras along four high-traffic corridors in Gwinnett. The Georgia Department of Transportation is funding the lion’s share of the construction contracts while the County’s portion comes from the 2009 SPLOST.
