Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth Receives National Recognition for Critical Care Excellence

Lawrenceville – The Gwinnett Medical Center-Duluth Intensive Care Unit recently received a Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). This prestigious award has three levels, with GMC-Duluth receiving the highest honors with its gold-level designation. The ICU is a three-time recipient of the Beacon Award and is one of only four units in the state to currently hold gold level status.

Concussion Care Goes Mobile

On August 16, 2017, Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) unveiled the newest addition to its community out-reach and patient care facilities – The Sports Medicine and Concussion Care-A-Van. The mobile unit is the first of its kind and hopes to be a prototype for other communities across the country to model.

Northside Hospital and Gwinnett Health System Reach Agreement on Combining Operations

ATLANTA – Northside Hospital and Gwinnett Health System (the parent of Gwinnett Medical Center) announced that they have submitted their
proposed merger agreement to the State of Georgia Office of the Attorney General for review and approval. Depending on the review process, the five hospital Northside-Gwinnett Health combined system could be operational in early 2018.

Dr. Laurence “Lanny” Martin Lesser, M.D., F.A.C.C., age 72, Snellville, Georgia, beloved Gwinnett County cardiologist since 1979, died at his home on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, before sunset, 10 Av, 5777, surrounded by his devoted wife, Sandra, and his beloved children and grandchildren.  On Saturday, March 19, 2016, Dr. Lesser was diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer known as adenocarcinoma.  Dr. Lesser fought this incurable cancer with grace and dignity.  He was always concerned about his family and his responsibility to his patients despite his illness.
