The Dictionary Project was started in Lilburn by the GFWC Lilburn Woman’s Club several years ago, and each year we strive to provide special dictionaries to all area 3rd grade students in Lilburn elementary schools.
It’s all cleaned up now, but back in the spring, there was a huge illegal tire dump in the City of Lilburn.
The Lilburn Woman’s Club continues its mission of promoting arts in the community with an annual Spring Art Show and competition. The 2019 competition included students from eleven schools in the municipal area, all of whom submitted their original work for the chance to win a $25 cash prize.
Brookwood High School offers a ground-breaking new course called Natural Resource Management. It is an applied science course where students learn about environmental science through an entrepreneurial lens. Students design products for your garden, home and body all using sustainable agriculture. All products are made in the classroom by teaching kids entrepreneurship skills.
The GFWC Lilburn Woman’s Club (LWC) Education Committee challenged themselves and the community to meet the goal of providing every third grader attending a Lilburn public elementary school with an age-appropriate dictionary. Why third grade? Professional educators have determined that third grade is when children begin transitioning from ‘learning to read’ to ‘reading to learn.’
The Lilburn Woman’s Club is delighted to announce the addition of the Lopez Home on Tom Smith Road to the Christmas Tour of Homes on December 1st. This 7800 square foot home tragically burned to the ground in November 2009, several months after its completion.
The Lilburn Woman’s Club is proud to celebrate the continuing participation of Boy Scout Troop 100 as they celebrate their 15th year with us in the upcoming 45th annual Lilburn Daze Arts and Crafts Festival. The festival will be held on Saturday, October 13, 9 am to 5 pm in Lilburn City Park.
The GFWC Lilburn Woman’s Club is excited to announce the presentation of a check in the amount of $6,300.00 to the Lilburn Cooperative Ministry. On Saturday, December 2nd, the Lilburn Woman’s Club hosted the Lilburn Christmas Walking Tour of Homes with all proceeds being donated to the Lilburn Co-op.
