Mandy Snell,

Doris Lorraine Harris Snell

Mama turns 90

The year was 1947, March. Doris Lorraine Harris came to Snellville to finish school early so she could start her nursing career (back then in Snellville there were only 11 grades). She was living with her cousins, Thelma and Gerald Brownlee.

I am SO thankful

I normally write down my article, the old fashion way… with pen and paper and then put it to the keyboard. I don’t need to it that way this time.

Resilient hearts

Isn’t it amazing how much our hearts and bodies (sometimes), can take? The heart is very resilient. Even though it probably has been broken many times, it continues to beat.

Grief is a hard part of life

I was sitting in traffic on Tuesday June 2nd… Yes, I remember the day and actually the time. I thought, “what should I write about next month”?

Was there life before cell phones?

I am sure that just like me you have wondered, “what did we do before cell phones?” Well…. We did just fine!!! I’m not denying that they come in handy, especially during an emergency. But wow!!

Have a wonderful 2015!

Brand new year! Yay!! I hope this finds everyone healthy and happy. The holidays can be an emotional time. When were kids it was all about lights, presents and Santa. It still can be for us young at heart. But we seem to find ourselves, as adults, rushing around and hurrying to get EVERYTHING DONE! And really… ‘the reason for the season’ sometimes gets lost.

Reflecting on family and home – 70’s

I recently went to the Snell family reunion. I always look forward to our reunion, to see who has gotten older (ha, like myself), who has gotten married and of course who has had a baby or babies!  I love all of my family and I’m very proud to be a part of it.

Looking back… 1930’s Snellville

I have been excited and nervous about this month’s article. Excited: because I was/am very anxious to learn more about ‘Our Town’, Snellville. Nervous: because I don’t want (or didn’t want) to get the dates wrong! I could only imagine the phone calls or FB messages I would get, correcting me. LOL So I decided I would get the decade(s) right and maybe even a year or two.
