Not so common sense

What’s the village to do?

Grocery shopping. It’s become more of a social event for me than it is a matter of necessity. The florist and the produce guy have become friends of mine over the years, and we always make a point to catch up when I’m in there. I like that; so many of the “hometown” niceties are falling by the wayside these days.

There’s no place like home

My husband and I just returned from a trip to Tennessee, to see family. My family, to be specific; my sister, brother-in-law, nieces and their children live there. As always, we had a lovely time and as always, we left feeling that we wish we lived closer to them.

Run on ahead; I’ll catch up.

I’m a dog person. That one short sentence says an awful lot about somebody, but it’s true. I’m a dog person through and through. Don’t get me wrong; I love all animals (even cats, only because I think somehow I’m commanded to), but dogs just melt my heart. They are everything that’s good, and nothing that’s bad, in our natures.

Perfume and personal space

(Not So) Common Sense

Perfume. Eau de Parfum. Eau de Toilette. Eau de Cologne. These beautiful, fancy French words name types of scents or rather, they name the strengths of fine scents.

I’m a little late hopping on the Poke-train

Pokemon Go. That is the name of the game, these days. I’m a little late coming to the party, but the game became so popular, so fast, that I thought I’d better learn what I can about it. Never know when such knowledge will come in handy.

Vacuuming sure isn’t what it used to be

Technology amazes me. What it’s accomplished in my lifetime is simply fascinating. We have the world at our fingertips, in a tiny little smart-gadget that brings us more than a computer that occupied an entire 40-degree room used to do.

If they’ll do it with you, they’ll do it to you

My parents, it turns out, were not nearly as stupid as I thought they were when I was a teenager. I suspect that a lot of us learned that lesson when we were growing up, and we learned it right about the same time that we moved out on our own, started paying our own bills and such.
