City welcomes world to test technology in Gwinnett smart city

On a sunny Wednesday morning in September, Peachtree Corners city leaders, partners and more than 400 invited guests attended the unveiling of the city’s Curiosity Lab, an autonomous vehicle test track that welcomes the world to put its smart city technology through the paces. Onlookers were wowed by displays of the latest 5G and IoT technology, along the 1.5-mile testbed.

A piece of the past rests in Peachtree Corners

In a county as robust as Gwinnett, history is often forgotten, lost to progress and to development that celebrates “new” above all else. Nostalgia becomes a luxury enjoyed only by those with the privilege of holding the memories. That’s why, when a piece of history finds a home here, it deserves a place of honor. In August, artist Kathy Fincher gifted the city of Peachtree Corners with just such a piece of the past.

CarMax to Open Customer Experience Center in Peachtree Corners

The center will bring over 300 new jobs to the city.

CarMax, the United States’ largest retailer of used cars and Fortune 500 company, announced recently it is opening a new Customer Experience Center in Peachtree Corners creating over 300 new jobs. Over the next few months, CarMax will hire customer experience consultants, assistants and managers to work at the new center located at 5707 Peachtree Parkway.

City Celebrates Completion of its Veterans Monument

Over 400 attended the Peachtree Corners dedication.

On a brilliant Saturday morning with American Flags flying in the breeze, the community gathered on the city’s Town Center to celebrate the dedication of its new veterans’ monument. It was a culmination of a years-long dream that began in 2015.

The City of Peachtree Corners designed their 21-acre Town Center as a mixed-use development. Allowing for a blending of residential and commercial uses, the Town Green was created to be a pedestrian-friendly living space where residents can shop, eat and play.

“With the turning of this switch, I dedicate this city’s new Town Green,” said Mike Mason, Mayor of the City of Peachtree Corners.

As the mayor’s speech ended, a fountain bubbled high into the air and children rushed into the water, splashing as they ran.
