There was a lot happening at the Philadelphia Winn Chapter NSDAR in Lawrenceville on Sunday, May 20th. The DAR calendar runs from September to May, breaking over the summer from regular monthly meetings, but of course, DAR’s work continues year round!
Philadelphia Winn Chapter Regent Kitty Watters and Corresponding Secretary Lee Schermerhorn were pleased to present Mr. Elliott Brack, Editor and Publisher of the Gwinnett Forum, with an award, Excellence in Local Media, Wednesday, April 25, 2018.
Lawrenceville, GA – Thursday morning, March 15, 2018, 40 Philadelphia Winn Chapter NSDAR Daughters, guests and one HODAR (husband of DAR) met at Ashton Senior Living to board a chartered bus for the Swan House, an excellent example of the Second Renaissance Revival style, and the Tullie Smith Farm, both located at the Atlanta History Center.
Glenn P. Stephens, County Administrator, Gwinnett County Government, gave the opening remarks followed by Charlotte Nash, Chairman Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and Lynette Howard, District Two Commissioner. Representative Robert Woodall was also among the dignitaries and was cited for his ongoing commitment to veterans.
Memories and photos abound after returning from Continental Congress in Washington D.C. this summer! One of their many highlights was having “Donuts with David.”
The DAR Continental Congress is the national meeting of the National Society of the DAR.
It may sound a little strange, but one of the best places to see “the rites of spring” is at the Oakland Cemetery near downtown Atlanta! Not only a cemetery, it is a living garden, Victorian in style, spanning 88 acres.
Lawrenceville, GA – May 30, 2017 Philadelphia Winn Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, was honored to serve on the hospitality committee at the Memorial Day 2017 Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial. The event was held at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
