 I am often asked by families how to broach the subject of care with their loved ones. Since it is that time of year again where families are together after, perhaps, not seeing each other for an extended period of time, I thought this would be a good question to address this month.

How can a family caregiver take care of themselves?

This is a real issue. Statistics estimate that between 40% and 70% of family caregivers show signs of depression. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is that family caregivers take care of themselves.

First, I would like to thank Gwinnett Citizen for allowing me to use this platform to share some of my encounters with caregivers that I hope will reach other caregivers going through the same feelings and alleviate some of the guilt caregivers often feel.
