Another Year, Another Opportunity

As we embark on a new year, I have been reflecting on my own experiences in 2017. For me, it was a year of successes and failures, loss of family and friends, of joys and pains. Upon reflection, however, it was the kind of year that is the stuff of life, good times and bad, trials and triumphs. How we face life’s challenges and move forward is what really matters.

The Power of Giving Back

This time of year, we feel that special tug on our hearts to do more and give more to our fellow man… ‘tis the season”! We look for ways to engage in acts of kindness to make the lives of those who need a helping hand a little better and hopefully a little brighter, especially during the holidays.

Magical Healing Powers of Art

There is a lot of love, passion and positive energy at Creative Enterprises, not only among the staff, but it is evident among the clients they serve as well. On a recent visit, I was greeted by wide, welcoming smiles, generous greetings and even a hug or two! It may not be the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but it’s a close second in my book!

Art Matters | Focus on Cuba… A Photographer’s View

It’s not every day that you meet someone who has traveled from the US to Cuba. Photographer Lara Mealor had that rare opportunity earlier this year. When we met a few months ago, Lara showed me some of the pictures she took, and I just had to find out more about this adventurous woman and extraordinary photographer.

Creative little library houses

“He that loves reading has everything within his reach”, a quote by journalist/writer, William Godwin. I developed a love of reading as a young child and reading a good book remains one of my favorite pastimes.

I am always amazed by an artist or individual’s creative spirit, how they come to create what they create, to do what they do and have the courage to share it with others.

Art Matters

The title of my new column “Art Matters” has a dual meaning and purpose for me. As the owner of an art gallery and lover of all the arts, you might say of course art would matter to me, it’s my business and you would be right. However, in a broader sense, art matters far beyond the scope of my world.
