Veteran’s driver’s license/ID available for all Georgia Vets

A new enhancement at the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) that allows all military veterans to request a special license or identification card denoting their service was announced by Governor Nathan Deal today. DDS Commissioner Rob Mikell is pleased that the details were included at a special ceremony at the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center in Columbus.

Welcome home

On Veterans Day last month, Gwinnett County held its annual ceremony at the Gwinnett Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville. While service men and women, past and present, were honored, the event featured a special “welcome home” for Vietnam veterans.

Harry Khachadourian was born in Palestine and his parents were from Turkey. Harry grew up as an Armenian Christian in a war-torn time and place. He spent many years moving from one “safe” place to another. His father and uncle owned a shoe factory in Palestine in the 1940’s and after the King David Hotel was bombed; Harry’s life began to resemble the movie “Exodus”.

A community hero

For most of the last fifteen or so years, the children of the Grayson Cluster have enjoyed spending time with a beloved man who has not only served his country, but also his community with distinction.
