Teylor Newsome of Lawrenceville and Grayson High School graduate is a Clemson University sophomore majoring in English with a concentration in writing and a minor in Communications. Teylor aspires to be a Broadcast Journalist upon graduation. While we have no doubt Teylor will be sharing news in the future, she is currently making her own and leaving a legacy at Clemson University.

In March 2014 Teylor Newsome won the Miss Black and Gold Pageant for the Pi Alpha chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. at Clemson University. She will move forward to the next round which is the district pageant which will occur in October of 2014 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. 

In December 2014 she made the Clemson University all girls competition cheerleading squad. 

Teylor’s hard work and efforts are focused on her education and community as well. She is on the President’s List at Clemson University which requires a 4.0 (all As) grade-point average. She also participated in the WS 3010 (Introduction to Women’s Studies) service-learning project by working with a group to create a campus domestic violence awareness campaign. Currently, Teylor is a Presenter for Clemson Collaborations in Service-Learning Webcast on the www.clemson.edu website. 

Teylor Newsome is a former Gwinnett Citizen columnist.
