And, we’re celebrating 100 years of the Metropolitan Atlanta Chapter of the Red Cross providing service in our community. This event is co-sponsored by 680 The Fan, ROCK 100.5 and WSB-TV.
This is the largest, single day Red Cross blood drive in Georgia and Braves blood drives have resulted in 2,227 pints of blood collected. To put that into perspective, 6,681 lives have been touched by the generosity of volunteer donors.
“Summer is a challenging time to collect enough blood to meet patient needs,” said Jerry J.K. Tillery, chief executive officer, Alabama & Central Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico and Southern Blood Services Region. “We appreciate the Braves, 680 The Fan, Rock 100.5 and WSB-TV for helping us ensure a stable blood supply.”
Participants will receive:
• A pair of tickets to the July 5 Braves game against the Arizona Diamondbacks and opportunity to walk the warning track during pre-game festivities
• A commemorative t-shirt and Red Cross centennial pin
• Buy one, get one free Braves ticket offer
• Chance to win four Braves tickets and batting practice field visit or autographed baseball memorabilia
*Free parking will be available in the green lot the day of the blood drive.
The Red Cross Southern Blood Services Region provides lifesaving blood to patients in more than 100 hospitals. Approximately 1,200 people need to give blood or platelets each week day to meet hospital demands.

Simply call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit http://www.redcrossblood.org to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
