The Gwinnett Roadrunner -
On The Run October 2014
By Mary Frazier LongKidstuff

Halloween is on October 31. The name Halloween means hallowed or holy evening because it takes place the day before All Saints’ Day. Jack-O’-Lanterns are seen all around during this season and the Irish have a tale about the origin of jack-o’-lanterns — they say that a man named Jack was unable to enter heaven because of his miserliness. He could not enter hell because he had played practical jokes on the devil so he had to walk the earth with his lantern until Judgement Day.

THINKERS

It’s all right to hold a conversation but you should let go of it now and then.

What the world needs is an amplifier for the still, small voice.

An expert can take something you already know and make it sound confusing.

Occasionally an innocent man is sent to the legislature.

It is easier to get married than to stay married.

Nothing makes a fish bigger than almost being caught.
