For many of us, our favorite pictures reflect how we most see our loved one and ourselves.  Time passes but the image is the real you.

Although my parents have been married 64 years, my father still keeps a picture of he, in full World War II naval splendor and my mother, newly engaged in 1947 on his writing desk.

Therefore when Dacula High School 1954 Women’s State Champions: Delores Strickland Gaddis, Juanita Hudlow Whitley, and Jean Otis Sims Smith, returned to Basketball Alumni night at Dacula High School, it was a delight to see the confident, lovely ladies pose next to the team champion photo they posed for in 1954. Longtime Dacula High School faculty, coach and “profe” John Williams takes a leading role in honoring the history and culture of DHS.

A current star athlete at Dacula high school is Golf Team standout Christie Blaurock, is also active in Student Council, FCA and Peer Leading. She will be a Golf Athlete at Young Harris University next fall. As is frequently the case with outstanding scholar/athletes, proud Mom Lisa Blaurock is, as Photographer Meredith Chastain says Dacula “Volunteer Extraordinaire”.

Alexandra Abu-Shmais was not only Contestant number 1 at the Miss Central Gwinnett High School Pageant on Saturday night, she ended the night as Number 1 as well – being crowned 2013-2014 Miss Central. Abu-Shmais is very active at Central Gwinnett High School, but her latest achievements include founding an Anti Cyber Bullying campaign as well as a group for enhancing the Self Esteem of Teenage girls.

A measure of a great sport is that the Coaches dress exactly like the players. Coach Jason Johnson stood on picture day surrounded on both sides by his Senior athletes. By name we have (L-R) – Infielder Forrest Girardeau, Pitcher/Outfielder Crew Peery, Outfielder Josh Logan, Head Coach Jason Johnson, Pitcher/Infielder Matthew Hubbard, Pitcher AJ Moore, Pitcher/Infielder Ben Utley.

I remember the first time (3 years ago) when I photographed the first baseball team at Lanier High School led by Coach Chad Lounge. He was having to good naturedly remind his very green team about things like being at practice WHEN it starts and also sorting out the newly arrived uniforms. Strong leadership and dedicated athletes have made all the difference. Coach Lounge is shown in this picture with the six athletes who have been with him since Day One: TJ Richardson, Kam Doster, Thomas Johnston, Dustin Lennon, Matthew Ramsay and Trenton Little.

Tennis at Lanier High School is yet another thriving sport. Photographer Alex Beard captured the Senior girls marking time with their tennis balls. It was back to Super Heroes when I photographed the Taylor Elementary School Father Daughter Dance with a Masquerade theme. 5th grade student, Jordyn Bon, stood patiently in line with Batman. Not all the fathers dressed up and I had just said good bye to Bruce Wayne when Jordyn arrived with Mr. Wayne’s lifelong friend, Batman. The dynamic duo struck an impressive pose and then vanished onto the dance floor.
