The Ripple Effect scholarship winner

The Lilburn Woman’s Club announces the winner of The Ripple Effect scholarship. Miss Melanie Snow, a 4th grader at Knight Elementary, has been awarded a $50 scholarship and certificate for her idea of developing a compass rose in their wonderful teaching garden on their school campus.

Toni Ferguson, the principal, and Melanie’s mother, Amy Snow, were thrilled to see Melanie receive The Ripple Effect Certificate of Achievement presented by Judy Nash and Jane Heyer of The Lilburn Woman’s Club. This scholarship awards $50 to any student in Lilburn schools, whose proposal is accepted, toward developing an idea that will greatly impact our local community.  Melanie wrote, “I think that the compass rose would help other students learn direction. And it would help (them) to learn about explorers.”

The goal of the Lilburn Woman’s Club’s Ripple Effect scholarship is to encourage local young people, who are our future leaders, to think of positive ways to impact our community resulting in thedevelopment of future leaders by empowering them to be creative and to think of ideas that can make our community a better place in which to live.
