Saint Leo University, Gwinnett Public Library to Host Veterans Luncheon, Workshop

Georgia Coaching Legend Vince Dooley to Speak

DULUTH, GA ­– Georgia football legend Vince Dooley will welcome Gwinnett veterans and their guests to A Gwinnett Veterans Luncheon & Workshop. Saint Leo University in partnership with the Gwinnett County Public Library, will present the event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, October 22. The event, which includes a free lunch, will be held at the Saint Leo University Gwinnett Education Center campus, 3555 Koger Blvd., Suite 105, Duluth, GA 30096.

Gwinnett county made history with the appointment of DJ Jeyaram, Esq, to the Gwinnett Magistrate Court

On Sept. 20, 2016, judicial history was made with the appointment of Georgia’s first South Asian American judge in Gwinnett County. 

The Hon. DJ Jeyaram was sworn in at his investiture as a Gwinnett County magistrate judge (pro hac). Judge Jeyaram joins Magistrate Judge Ruth Rocker McMullin as the second Asian Pacific American Judge currently serving in Gwinnett (Judge Chung Lee, now with Duluth Municipal Court, previously served as a Gwinnett County magistrate judge as well).

Deaf receive the gift of hearing, speaking using non-traditional methods

Suwanee – It’s become somewhat of a tradition by now; the Green Financial Charity Golf Classic has become a “must” on the calendars of golfers and philanthropists in Gwinnett and beyond. On Tuesday, Sept. 20, the weather was picture-perfect for the 14th annual event, which was held once again at River Club in Suwanee.

Grayson – The morning of Friday, Sept. 30 dawned bright and chilly, the perfect morning for a cup of delicious coffee and catching up with friends. The Grayson Coffee House was bustling with people inside and out, and the excitement and celebration were palpable.

Johnny’s Pizza at Sugarloaf – a family affair

Stephen Burge is a family man, and his “family” extends beyond his wife and seven children. The former chemistry and physics teacher bought the Johnny’s Pizza located on Sugarloaf Parkway in December 2015. He’s proud of the fact that his employees include some of his own children and a couple of former Archer high school students.

Lunch was provided by Chick-fil-A Scenic Highway to businessmen, pastors and community leaders.

Lawrenceville – There’s a movement going on in Gwinnett County, one that asks men to stand up and fight for life.  Every year, 1.2 million abortions take place in the United States; in 2015, more than 7,000 took place in Gwinnett County alone.

Tom and Diane Wargo are retired. Well, that’s not quite accurate. The couple both left their former careers to work full time helping animals. That may sound like a quiet plan for their golden years, but the Wargos’ passion for bettering the lives of all animals is exhausting –  physically, emotionally, and financially.
