Central Gwinnett basketball standout, Alexandra Frazier, has committed to East Carolina University.  The East Carolina Women’s Basketball Program has just completed it’s move to the American Athletic Conference, where they will annually face powerhouse teams like Connecticut and Temple.

SGHS alumni battles 2nd round of brain cancer

South Gwinnett 1982 classmate and Snellville friend, Terry Downs, is bravely fighting his 2nd round of brain cancer.  First diagnosed in 2008 with IV Glioblastoma cancer, Terry was given just 18 months to live.  However, after a successful surgery, intense radiation and support from friends and family, he beat that round of cancer.

“Making a difference” is a label that carries many meanings. Often, those who make differences are also humble in their efforts. Such is the case with Dan Chelko who was recently inducted into the Brookwood High School Hall of Fame along with former student Sean Johnson, goalkeeper for the Chicago Fire and the USA National team.

Try to retrieve your own memories of Christmas. They might involve a tree, a special church service, gifts, food and perhaps, the memory of a special item that made its way out of a box each year. For Grayson’s Writer-in-Residence, Joey Hancock, Christmas stories are as much a part of the fabric of a Christmas memory as his mother’s embroidered poinsettia tablecloth. In fact, it was that embroidered tablecloth that led him to describe the stories he tells as “embroidered truths.”
