GBT launches the 2014-2015 season with three premieres and the area’s biggest Nutcracker

Gwinnett Ballet Theatre might be the oldest performing arts non-profit in Gwinnett, but everything this season is fresh and new! This includes the 33rd anniversary of The Nutcracker, which is the second largest in the metro Atlanta area and a holiday tradition for thousands of families.
SAN DIEGO- Airman Ramiro Alvarez, an aviation boatswain’s mate from Lawrenceville, Ga. and 2009 graduate of Phoenix High School, is serving in the U.S. Navy aboard USS Somerset (LPD 25), one of the world’s most modern, networked, survivable, and transformational warships. USS Somerset is named in commemoration of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
Rotary Club of Gwinnett says thank you to GCPS bus drivers
The Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) professionals who make sure Gwinnett children travel safely to and from school every day will receive a token of appreciation as they get ready for another school year. The Rotary Club of Gwinnett will visit the school district’s bus managers and monitors and say “thank you” to the staff members for the work they do transporting students every day. In expressing their gratitude, the organization is sponsoring lunch for the more than 1,800 staff members.
For 90 year-old Lawrenceville resident, Robert L. Norton, life has generally gone along as planned, with the incredible exception of the time spent in the German POW camp, Stalag Luft IV.

Lawrenceville, GA (July 7, 2014) – What does a suburban empty nester mother of four do when she finds herself bored and looking for something new to do and out of her comfort zone? There are as many responses to an empty nest as there are stars in the sky. Some women buy a new car, others get a total makeover, and some take a seriously long vacation.
For Ann Cope Anderson, life has been a series of events not completely out of the ordinary. As a local girl out of high school, she took a job with the family business, married, had kids, ultimately found herself a single mom of two boys, several years apart as well as patching together a trendy multi-generational household with her grandmother, “Precious”.
Gwinnett Medical Center presented the organization’s first five family medicine residents who have just embarked on their three-year residency. Each new resident has ties to Gwinnett County.
Veterans to live in houses located in parks
(Lawrenceville, Ga., July 1, 2014) – Five houses located within Gwinnett County parks will be leased to veterans and their families under an agreement approved by commissioners on Tuesday.

Lawrenceville, Ga. – Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) was recognized with an American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline® Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes GMC’s success in implementing the highest standard of care for heart attack patients. And GMC is the first hospital in Georgia to receive the Gold Plus performance distinction.
