Gwinnett County is known for growth but once you dig in, you realize that it has small town loyalties to many fine families. It has been a thrill to watch the Jones Brothers – Philip and Tommy – build a Coaching tradition that is reminiscent to some of us of the Maloof Coaching Dynasty. Both sons as well as their father Tom and mother Linda (who passed on several years ago) have been an integral part of the Bronco family as students, athletes, faculty and volunteers.
For 18 months now, Philip Jones answered the call to return to Brookwood High School, this time as Head Football Coach (brother Tommy is down the road in the same role at Dacula High School). His Broncos had an impressive win at the Corky Kell tournament this year, and it all looked better with a lifelong Brookwoodian at the helm.

I am not surprised that Ryan Lesniak, who I have known for a long time, was tapped to become Athletic Director of Peachtree Ridge High School. Ryan looks alarmingly young and good natured but he is a natural motivator. He has had many victories as Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Archer High School and earlier experience Coaching at Grayson High School. Lesniak is shown with Head PRHS football Coach Mark
Fleetwood, another Coach who does NOT say to us, “I hate Picture Day.”
Jason Cleghorn is Coaching Grayson Athletic Association 10 and under and many of the boys were part of his 2015 GSL Championship team. Hopes are high for this team, which is staffed by many Dads and Moms who put in all their free time to support their athletes.
Ashley Taube, who I met back whenshe was Ashley Baker, has Coached award winning Mill Creek High School Competitive Cheerleading for over 10 years. She has always been lovely and still looks like she could be one of her cheerleaders. Her ability to guide her athletes is enhanced by her own years as an Atlanta Falcons Cheerleader. Husband Mike Taube is the MCHS Sports trainer and I can only imagine the athletic feats ahead for their two very young sons.
Mountain View Softball has three Seniors this year – Courtney Roley, Madolyn Packer and Kristen Rogers.
When determining their signature “Senior pose”, they demonstrated the Bear tradition of bold physical prowess.
It’s not difficult to go to a lovely area Park (Freemans Mill) and get appealing pictures of Hannah Jackson. However, with the inclusion of her ukelee and encouragement of Ellie Grover, Hannah’s BFF of 5 years, Hannah’s choice to be a little more spontaneous had some lovely results.
Every time we step foot into Dacula High School, we are greeted by Tami Groover at the front desk. She makes you feel like family, so we were delighted to get the chance to photograph some of her “real” family. Son Kody, a Dacula graduate, recently proposed to girlfriend Brooke Colson, a North Gwinnett graduate.
On a ridiculously hot August morning, these two, along with Brooke’s dog Annie, managed to look refreshed in the heat.
After photographing the Class of 2017 all summer in mainly empty buildings, we are happy to see the return of so many familiar faces this fall!
