DAR Good Citizen Awards

The Philadelphia Winn Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) was represented at three of our Gwinnett County High Schools’ awards ceremonies in April and May.

DAR Good Citizens are selected by the faculty at each school and must demonstrate at least 4 qualities: dependability, service to others, leadership, and patriotism to the United States of America. The honor of being named a high school’s DAR Good Citizen carries a lifetime distinction as one who was chosen above all others in the senior class at his/her high school.

Amber Cone and Cindy GaskinsAmber Cone and Cindy GaskinsPhiladelphia Winn DAR Good Citizen Chair, Cindy Gaskins, attended Central Gwinnett High School’s ceremony on April 26. Amber Cone was recognized as the CGHS 2018 DAR Good Citizen and the Philadelphia Winn DAR Good Citizen Scholarship Essay Contest winner. Amber’s winning essay was entered in DAR’s district competition.

Philadelphia Winn DAR American History Chair, Linda LaPerre, represented the chapter at Grayson High School on April 26, recognizing the GHS 2018 DAR Good Citizen, Akugbe Imudia.

Cindy Gaskins attended North Gwinnett High School’s Awards ceremony on May 21 where Natalie Boutwell received her school’s accolades as the NGHS 2018 DAR Good Citizen.

Each of the school winners received a National DAR Certificate, a Philadelphia Winn (PW) Chapter Certificate, a gold DAR Good Citizens pin, official wallet card, and a cash award from the Philadelphia Winn Chapter. Each high school Good Citizen was invited to attend a PW DAR meeting where they were officially introduced and awarded. Each received a certificate from their high school at the school senior awards ceremonies.

The Philadelphia Winn Chapter, NSDAR, serves 8 of the clusters in Gwinnett County, and trusts more local high schools will choose to participate with DAR Good Citizen selection process in October 2018 to choose 2019 school winners.
