More than 500 GCPS retirees set to seek new horizons (2)

As the last bell rings for the 2016–17 school year, 562 veteran educators and support staff members will mark their retirement from Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). In total, our 2016–17 retirees have contributed a collective 13,518 years of their lives to education, and a total of 10,701 years to Gwinnett schoolchildren.

After 13 years of hard work during their K-12 academic careers, more than 12,100 potential Gwinnett graduates are counting down the days. The 12,150 high school seniors will walk across the stage this week as the school district congratulates the Class of 2017, the largest and most decorated to date.

Gwinnett appoints principals for Central Gwinnett High School and Jackson Elementary

April 25, 2017 –  At its April meeting, the Gwinnett County Board of Education named two principals for the coming school year. Shane Orr, an associate principal at Central Gwinnett High School, has been named the new principal at the Lawrenceville school following the retirement of the current principal, Maryanne Grimes. Kara Dutton, the principal of Peachtree Elementary School will transfer to become the principal of Jackson Elementary as the current principal, Dr. Ruth Markham, retires.
