In total, our 2016–17 retirees have contributed a collective 13,518 years of their lives to education, and a total of 10,701 years to Gwinnett schoolchildren.

After 13 years of hard work during their K-12 academic careers, more than 12,100 potential Gwinnett graduates are counting down the days. The 12,150 high school seniors will walk across the stage this week as the school district congratulates the Class of 2017, the largest and most decorated to date.
April 25, 2017 – At its April meeting, the Gwinnett County Board of Education named two principals for the coming school year. Shane Orr, an associate principal at Central Gwinnett High School, has been named the new principal at the Lawrenceville school following the retirement of the current principal, Maryanne Grimes. Kara Dutton, the principal of Peachtree Elementary School will transfer to become the principal of Jackson Elementary as the current principal, Dr. Ruth Markham, retires.
On September 30, 2016, Lovin Elementary celebrated its ten-year anniversary of being one of the best Gwinnett County elementary schools!
During these 10 years, Lovin has done amazing things throughout the school year and even during the summers.
Lanier High School Principal Dr. Reuben Gresham has been awarded the Henk Koning Exemplary Educator Award by the National Career Academies Coalition (NCAC). The award recognizes an academy educator who has made a significant contribution to the success of a career academy.
Debbie Partrick, STEM specials teacher at Trip Elementary in Grayson, as well as the entire school family, is participating in a community recycling program that will earn money for their school.
As students head back to school in Gwinnett County on Monday, August 8, many of them will be learning their way around new buildings. GCPS opens two new schools this fall—Coleman Middle School and Baldwin Elementary School.
Gwinnett County Public Schools’ newest educators will gather at a districtwide event before the start of the new year to learn about their new jobs and the support they will receive during their Gwinnett careers.
